The World’s Best Restaurants awards this week named El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, the world’s best restaurants. Commiserations to repeat winner Noma in Copenhagen, which this year now be content with being the world’s second best restaurant.
The list is compiled from the votes of over 900 international restaurant-industry experts, with an interpretation of what constitutes ‘best’ left to their discretion. Although fine-dining restaurants make up the majority of the list, the panel is welcome to include any eatery that provides a suitably impressive dining experience. Their choices combine to form the aforementioned list, the contents of which are always the subject of intense debate, not to mention a surge in bookings for venues newly added to the countdown.
